Get to know me and what the blog will be about!

Welcome to the launch of the new "Love, Kristine - the-not-so-secret diary" website and my first blog post! Grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine, sit back, take a moment to escape reality and get to know me and what the blog is about. Before I jump right into it here's a quote that I literally live by, thought it might be a good idea to put it out there as I'm pretty sure you'll be reading this reference quite a lot! (that is, if you decide to read more of my blogs lol).

“I believe that everything happens for a reason... - Marilyn Monroe.

So here we go, my name is Kristine and I am so excited to share with you MORE of what "Love, Kristine" has to offer! The amount of ideas, how-to’s and inspiration whirling around in my head is ready to jump out. I wanted to start by telling you why I created this blog, what you will be seeing more of in my posts, and basically give you a very raw behind the scenes of what my life looks like and who I am as a person.

Why I started my blog

I'm gonna try and keep this short and sweet, so here goes nothing. I decided to start this blog during this pandemic we're in at the moment, known as the #Coronavirus or COVID-19, as I have plenty of time and was looking for ways to make good use of it and I felt like I needed a bit of a change, so here I am. After overthinking if anyone would even read my blog, and doing much research, I have become completely consumed with inspiration to start this blog.

What you will be seeing more of in my posts

Lifestyle will obviously be the main topic of my blog, but get ready because you will be seeing much more #aesthetic posts, including a mixture of my favourite books, fashion finds, products, mental health, social media, organisations, how-to's and who knows maybe even food posts, because who would I even be if i wouldn't talk about it or take a picture of it. I will tell you, I am no expert on any of this. I may be a “perfectionist” but I am nowhere near perfect. I figure it will be a lot of trial and error so please bear with me on any grammar/spelling mistakes (disclaimer – I like to talk a lot and use a lot of parentheses) and please feel free to always share your advice and communicate with me along the way! I hope to inspire you because truthfully, I get inspired by so many of my friends and family on a daily basis. I am SO looking forward to bringing you into my life even if it is just 7 of you reading this blog (I know random/weird number, but hey so am I haha).

Get to know me

Personally, I wouldn't say I have an interesting life but when I was planning this blog post I was making notes on what to write in each of my topics, and realised that I did actually do a couple of cool things, which I will get to a bit later.

First thing's first, here's a few things you might want to know about my personality and who I am. I'm 22 years old, I have an older sister (who btw looks younger than me. Now I could blame that on the hight difference because I'm taller than her, but... reality check: her face looks younger than mine, if that even makes sense. 😂 Also on that note, when I tried to defend myself that it's the height, I've been told quite a few times, that my face looks older.. that's just what everyone wants to hear isn't it? 🙃). Anyway, back to the point, I've graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in December 2019 ( I studied singing in the popular music performance course btw).

If I had to describe myself with three words I would say I'm weird (in a good way), unnecessarily loud, and an amazing dancer... jokes (but I do put on a good "awkward dancing" show), my last word would be caring. Interesting fact I did used to do ballet (*pauses for a dramatic effect*... for 13 years!), hip-hop, contemporary, and tap dancing, and I once took part in a ballet/contemporary competition. Now I would say I hardly do any exercise... I'm still working on my #summerbody for quite a few years now.

Any-who, I took part in many singing competitions by myself as well as group competitions. When I was attending music school we'd attend choir shows, and in university we had big production shows that I was lucky enough to be a part of a couple of times. These production shows sometimes included guest stars, one of them being Mario Jose (who, btw, is also one of THE MOST amazing singers / incredible human beings I've ever met), you might be familiar with him, (also, whilst I'm writing this, I'm pretty sure this show was exactly two years ago today "22.04.18", which is still by far one of my favourite shows). Another big part of my uni experience was the acapella group I was in, aka my second family, which we also competed with (yes you could say it's like being in a real life "Pitch Perfect" movie... sort of).

In my last year of uni I had the biggest opportunity to work as a vocalist at "Carnival Cruise Lines" in the US. It was honestly the best time of my life as well as the most stressful time, as that's when I had my first experience with anxiety. Long story short my journey didn't last long there (I might be doing a more detailed blog post about this, so stay tuned if you want to hear all the tea 😏), but I'm hoping when the right time comes I'll be able to give it another go, since I've now learned to deal with my anxiety (keep your eyes peeled for this kind of blog post too - talking about mental health if you didn't catch that).

I have since then graduated, as mentioned, and had a bit of a rough time finding my way in the music industry (btw, side-note, it's okay to not find a job straight after university, I've learned that the hard way) and started working in a hotel back at home (Cyprus), then decided to find a job in Manchester, which I did, in literally less than a month I found a job, again in the hotel industry, and moved back. And now here we are, in a pandemic, where I have decided to start up this blog!

I hope you got an idea of who I am, and maybe you're even slightly intrigued to come back again for more blog posts (I will be posting a blog every Sunday!), which would make me really happy. I'm sorry if I rambled on too much, but I did warn you... also told you that I use parentheses too much.. oops!

If you've made it this far, THANK YOU!

Love, Kristine xx
